Employment law has developed rapidly over the past few years. Employees continue to acquire additional rights and employers are warned: 'ignore them at your peril'.
Dealing with real problems
The extent of employee rights does not prevent an employer dealing with problems that do arise among its workforce. The key is to deal with each situation firmly, fairly and consistently.
Prevention rather than cure
We, at Pellys, believe in prevention rather than cure. Our aim is to advise employers on best practices and assist in the implementation of procedures to avoid, as far as possible, claims being made. In addition and most importantly, an employer using 'best practices' is far more likely to have a contented work force, which is vital to all businesses.
We provide on-going advice and assistance in relation to all employment matters, whether on the telephone or in person.
We also provide training for staff who have supervisory responsibilities, in areas such as disciplinary procedures.
Changing Needs
The needs of your business may require you to make changes to the number of staff you employ or change the number of hours they work. You may need to make changes to terms and conditions of employment. We can help with all issues arising as a result of the constantly changing need of your business.
Tribunal Proceedings
One thing we can never guarantee is that a claim will not be made. When such incidents occur we are available to help, either in an advisory capacity or to act on your behalf. We will advise employers of the commercial reality of defending a claim, including the costs that are likely to be incurred. This will allow decisions on settlement to be made quickly and as economically as possible.
